Sketches
Sketches
These sketches are all pulled from my sketchbook for my Packaging Design Fundamentals class. We were assigned three simple prompts to sketch per week. I enjoyed working against a deadline and being told what to draw as I wouldn't sketch on my own and would struggle to come up with unique ideas by myself.
Draw a Shoe 8/29/24
This is a sketch of my right Chaco, half of my favorite pair of shoes
Draw a Plant 9/4/24 Draw the view from your window. 9/30/24
This is the view from my 7th floor window. I used the window as a frame for the view outside. My cactus and drying dishes are in the foreground on the sill. The view is dominated by the opposite wing of the building and a tree. Other details are stadium lights for the soccer fields and stadium. Lastly the rolling hills outside Blacksburg are in the background.
Draw a Bicycle 9/21/24
This is my 2022 Specialized Stumpjumper. This bike is light, capable, durable, and I love it. I've had it for nearly 3 years, carefully maintained and upgraded it, and I intend to keep her for a long time.
Draw your desk Title: My Messy/Organized Desk Date: 9/16/24
This is the beloved mess that is my desk. This is how it looked this morning, featuring a book, cup, tissue box, lifestraw, speaker, hydroflask, frisbee, Hokie Passport, key, nalgene, water kettle, wallet, waffle maker, lamo, two watches, and dirty dishes. I never study in my room, so my desk is only used for meal prep, eating, and short-term storage. With that, it is a reflection of what I've been doing recently as well as a display of things I seldom use.
Draw something you collect 10/15/24
I collect model airplanes. Sketched here is an Airbus A220. It is a popular, new, efficient, single aisle twinjet. I have it as a model and have flown on it and it is a favorite for both.
Draw something that makes you happy 10/15/24 Draw a piece of clothing 10/14/24
This is my beautiful Tissot Seastar watch. It was gifted to me for my 21st birthday. The only times I take it off are when I'm sleeping, biking, or showering.
This is a sketch of a cool jacket I found online. It's kakhi tan, likely a Carhartt knockoff. I would like to own one like it. This is one of the sketches I am most proud of.
Draw a detailed pattern 10/14/24
This is an intricate pattern I found online. Drawing it made my head hurt
Draw something architectural 11/10/24
This is the Graduate Life Center at Virginia Tech. I drew this one over multiple sittings and is one of my more detailed works.
Draw something that makes you happy Draw the cover of your favorite book 11/11/24
This is a pumpkin. It represents a bittersweet season of the year and the dichotomy of excitement of holidays with decreasing daylight and dormant plants and animals.
This is the cover of The Martian, a fantastic book filled with technical descriptions and accurate scientific facts which I enjoyed.
Draw something that makes you happy 11/11/24 Draw a backpack 12/1/24
Here is a simple line drawing of the majestic Blue Heron. The Heron's hunting prowess on land and sea represents life's duality and is honored in some Asian cultures as a reminder to maintain balance. I was really into Herons at this time and they made their way into my package graphics, sketches, and paintings.
This is my fabulous Osprey daypack. This has been with me on countless adventures all over the country. I love how durable it is.
Draw a word in graffiti 11/17/24
Here is my middle name written in graffiti style letters. I had no idea where to start this so I used a graffiti generator to get some ideas. This was quite challenging but I was happy with the result.
Draw something that makes you happy
This sketch is of a Largemouth Bass. Fish don't make me particularly happy but fishing can be fun. I drew this to prepare to paint it for another class.
Drew an action scene long shot and close shot 12/2
One of my few attempts at drawing people, this sketch was a challenge. Similar to the graffiti, I struggled to get started, so I had AI create an image for me. From there, I didn't have as much trouble translating the image onto paper. This is a common theme in my work; I have trouble coming up with new ideas, but given a goal and some constraints, I thrive.
